Gates of the ArcticGates of the Arctic National Park was established in 1980, the 42nd of America's National Parks to receive designation. Located in the northernmost part of Alaska, Gates of the Arctic is the second largest of any park in the system at nearly 8.5 million acres. It can only be accessed through a bush plane or by hiking. There are many Alaska Native communities in Gates of the Arctic National Park, who depend on the local wildlife for food. |
