Guadalupe Mountains

Guadalupe Mountains National Park was established in 1972, the 36th of America's National Parks to be designated. Located in the vast Chihuahuan Desert of western Texas, the park is known for its bright white Salt Basin Dunes, wildlife-rich grassland, fossilized reef mountains dating back to the Permian Era, and spectacular views of the terrain. The area boasts extensive hiking and backpacking opportunities in one of the nation's most pristine wilderness areas.
