Great BasinGreat Basin National Park was established in 1986, the 49th American National Park to be designated. Located within its namesake Great Basin Desert in eastern Nevada, the park encompasses most of the southern-central Snake Range. The landscape is known as a place of extremes, from rugged mountain peaks to vast underground cave systems. Its 77,100 acres may appear barren at a glance, but the area supports a vast array of plant species and wildlife. |
