New River Gorge

The New River Gorge was designated as the nation's 63rd National Park in 2020. It encompasses over 70,000 acres of breathtaking scenery and recreation opportunity in one of the most diverse ecosystems in the region. Within the longest and deepest gorge in the Appalachian Mountains, the New River flows northeastward for 53 miles from its headwaters in North Carolina through southern West Virginia, where it joins with the Gauley to form the Kanawha River.
