Redwood

Located along the northern coastline of California, Redwood National Park was established in 1968 - the 33rd American National Park to receive designation. The park's namesake coastal redwood trees (close relatives to the giant sequoia) can grow to over 350 feet high, and up to 29 feet in diameter, making them the tallest trees on earth. Coastal redwoods have been known to live as long as 2,000 years, although the average lifespan is around 500-700 years.
