Joshua Tree

Characterized by its unique rock formations and vast desert landscapes, Joshua Tree National Park is a huge protected area in southern California. Named for the region's twisted, bristled Joshua trees, the park includes parts of both the Mojave and the cactus-filled Colorado Deserts. This huge land area of over 790,000 acres is a little larger than the State of Rhode Island, and contains 429,690 acres of designated wilderness.
