PinnaclesPinnacles National Park was established in 2013, the 59th of America's National Parks to receive designation. The park protects a mountainous area located east of Salinas Valley in central California. Some 23 million years ago, multiple volcanoes erupted, flowed, and slid to form what would become Pinnacles National Park. The park has unique landscapes of dense thicket, oak woodlands, canyon bottoms, tall spires, and massive rock pinnacles. Hikers enter mystifying caves and emerge to towering rocks teeming with life such as prairie and peregrine falcons, wild pigs, and the inspiring California condor. |
